Rainy Day Fun: The Best Indoor Activities in Amelia Island

Although Amelia Island is known for its gorgeous scenery and myriad opportunities for outdoor adventure, its offerings for a rainy day shouldn’t be overlooked. Below, you’ll find our favorite indoor activities located right here on the island!

Duck Pinz

At Duck Pinz, as the name suggests, you’ll find duckpin bowling, which is like bowling, but in miniature. Using a smaller, lighter ball with no finger holes, you’ll have 3 tries each turn to knock ‘em down!

The lanes are first come, first served, though reservations can be made for parties with more than seven guests. There’s no age limit to bowl, though guests under 21 aren’t allowed in the building after 8pm.

Duck Pinz offers a wide range of craft cocktails, as well as beer and wine. A small snack bar menu is available, and guests are welcome to order takeout from Timoti’s and Cafe Karibo next door. The patio and back balcony are pet-friendly, so Fido can come along, but won’t be allowed in the building.

Amelia Island Escape Rooms

Looking for a fun challenge? Then check out Amelia Island Escape Rooms! The rooms are family-friendly unless otherwise noted, and kids eight years and up are welcome. Hints are available if you get stuck, and we promise, no one will judge you if you use them! You’ll get a locker to store your personal items, and room themes include “Library of Secrets” and “Greybeard’s Treasure.” Reservations are needed, and can be made online or over the phone.

Amelia Island Museum of History

From the Timucua Native American tribe to Spanish and French explorers, from the lawless spirit of pirates to the dignified air of Victorian-era residents, Amelia Island has been home to diverse cultures that have left an exciting heritage. The Amelia Island Museum of History preserves and presents that history to curious tourists and residents alike. Enjoy artifacts and historic tales during your visit! The museum if open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 4pm, and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm. There are docent-led tours (included in the ticket price) Monday-Saturday and 11am and 2pm, and Sunday at 2pm.

Amelia Community Theater

Amelia Community Theater has been staging artistic performances on the island since 1981. It promises entertaining, poignant, and humorous high-quality theater presented by talented directors, casts, crews, and musicians from the Northeast Florida region. There are both matinee and evening shows, and tickets can be purchased online or at the box office. Recent shows include Billy Elliot: The Musical, Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap, and more!

However you choose to spend your time in Amelia Island, we hope you’ll also enjoy a luxurious stay at the Williams House, where hospitality and history live.
