Our largest room located on the 2nd floor of the main house, our Egmont Indigo Suite has a king-size bed, large dresser and antique writing desk. A loveseat for two is located in front of the gas fireplace creating a romantic spot for “cozying up.” The beautiful bay window in this room lets in natural light and creates a cozy cove for the daybed, making it the perfect spot for reading or napping. The bath for this room is located across the hall from the room and has a large whirlpool tub/shower, spa robes, Gilchrist & Soames fine soaps and shampoos. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and flat-screen HDTV.
This 2nd-floor room has easy access to the upstairs verandah and a semi-private sitting area outside the room. Individual climate controls for A/C & heat, ceiling fan, free Wi-Fi, complimentary bikes, parking, beach towels and accessories. A gourmet breakfast is served each morning, and complimentary beverages and cookies are available. This elegant room at our bed and breakfast accommodates a third person on the day bed for an additional $50 per night.
A bit of history… England had won rights to settle Amelia Island and Sir John Perceval, Earl of Egmont, was given 10,000 acres on Amelia. He saw great potential for plantation owners in the Amelia River because of its deep-water bar. Through the successful management of Stephen Egan, Egmont and his heirs profited by raising indigo and turning it into rich blue dye to be exported to Europe.
