Choosing your room at the Williams House is less about square footage and more about feeling.Â
Some guests arrive celebrating something extraordinary. Others come seeking quiet restoration. Some want porch mornings and garden views. Others prefer a private retreat with space to settle in for days at a time.
Each room carries its own rhythm. Here is a guide to help you find the one that feels most like you.
Catherine’s Chamber
If you are celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or simply the two of you, Catherine’s Chamber often feels inevitable.
Located on the first floor of the Hearthstone House, this is our most luxurious room. Morning light filters in from the east, overlooking the front entry gardens. Inside, original heart-pine floors and antique furnishings create a sense of historic warmth, while a king-size bed with a handcrafted mango-wood headboard anchors the space.
French doors open to a semi-private covered porch, where fresh air and garden views soften the day. The spacious ensuite bath features an oversized whirlpool tub designed for two, along with a separate rainhead shower.
For couples seeking intimacy, celebration, and indulgence, Catherine’s Chamber is often the perfect match.
Smugglers’ Cove
One of our most beloved rooms, Smugglers’ Cove, sits on the second floor of the main house, offering views of the Great Live Oak Courtyard to the south and our secret garden to the north.
Inside, original wood floors, marble-topped end tables, and a king-size handcrafted bed create a space that feels both stately and welcoming. A built-in window seat invites slow afternoons. Two occasional chairs invite conversation.
But it is the private screened-in porch that defines this room, complete with an outdoor daybed. Morning coffee. An afternoon novel. A quiet glass of wine as the evening settles in. The ensuite bath features custom-built-in casework from the late 1800s and a spacious shower, blending historic detail with modern comfort.
If your ideal stay includes porch time and garden views, Smugglers’ Cove may be calling.
Southern Memories
Southern Memories, located on the first floor of the Hearthstone House, offers timeless charm with thoughtful ease of access.
A four-poster king-size bed sets a romantic tone, complemented by antique furnishings and original heart pine floors. A café table and upholstered seating create a cozy space for morning coffee or evening reflection.
French doors open to a semi-private covered porch overlooking the front gardens and the Williams House itself. The porch may also be accessed by a ramp, offering added convenience for guests with mobility considerations, though entry into the room includes one small step.
The ensuite bath features a whirlpool tub for two and a separate oversized shower, offering both comfort and indulgence.
For guests who appreciate classic Southern style and a slower, more comfortable pace, Southern Memories feels beautifully balanced.
The Surveyor’s Studio
Tucked into the first floor of the Carriage House beside the kitchen garden, the Surveyor’s Studio offers a slightly different experience, one of privacy and flexibility.
Your covered patio includes a charming daybed swing and rocking chairs overlooking fragrant herbs. It’s a peaceful setting for longer mornings and slower evenings.
Inside, the design nods to Marcellus Williams’s time as a surveyor, blending modern elements with Amelia Island character. Rich tile floors, plush rugs, a living space with a sofa and smart TV, and a kitchenette with a café-style table provide comfort between island outings.
The bedroom features a queen bed and a twin bed, along with a writing desk and an additional smart TV. The ensuite bath offers a spa-like, four-foot-wide shower designed for ease and relaxation.
For those seeking a more private retreat or a longer escape, this space offers modern comfort, with the estate’s charm just steps away.
Still Deciding?
Some guests choose based on the celebration. Some choose based on view. Some simply know when they see the room.
Whichever you select, each space is prepared with intention, layered with history, and arranged to feel distinctly personal.
At the Williams House, your room is more than where you sleep. It is where your story on Amelia Island begins.
