2014 Shrimp Festival - Amelia Island May 1-3
The Amelia Island Shrimp Festival is only weeks away! A parade begins the festivities on Thursday evening. On Friday shops downtown have a sidewalk sale, followed by opening of the food booths Friday evening. Pirates invade by ship at the waterfront later in the evening and fireworks light the sky around 9:30pm. A jurored art show on Saturday and Sunday include 300-400 vendors of all types of artwork from jewelry to painting to sculptures and many varieties of interesting art forms. There is truly something for everyone. All food booths are non-profit groups and most use local caught wild shrimp in more varieties than Bubba described to Forrest Gump in the movie. Funnel cakes, iced lemonade, ice cream and all manner of delicious treats await. We still have a few rooms left...so come on down and join the fun!
