Amelia Island B&B Cookie Tour at Williams House
December 2nd, 2013
The Amelia Island Williams House and six additional Inns were all decked out with Christmas decorations for the recent Cookie Tour that took place the weekend before Thanksgiving.
This annual event is an opportunity for guests, visitors and local residents to tour the Inns on Amelia Island, enjoy a special cookie chosen by each Inn and receive recipes for all the cookies chosen each year. This year we enjoyed marvelous weather with mid 70′s temperatures and beautiful sunshine. More people were dressed in shorts than we’ve ever seen and ticket sales were up 10% compared to 2012. It’s a wonderful way to kick-start the Holiday season.
Carriages were on hand to shuttle visitors between Inns as well as the local trolley for the trip to the ocean front Inn. A portion of the proceeds are given to a charitable cause each year and this year it is the Fernandina Beach Library and their campaign to expand and modernize the local facility. Volunteers from the Library helped support tour activity at each Inn by guiding visitors and helping hand out cookies and refreshments. We appreciate all the guests who allowed their rooms to be shown as part of the tour as well as the many visitors who joined us in this fun start to the Holidays.
Thanksgiving Fun at the Amelia Island Williams House
December 3rd, 2013
Thanksgiving is always a special time on the Island and this year we had a wonderful group enjoy our Williams House Thanksgiving Package. We begin Thanksgiving day with our normal breakfast service and then guests relax until about 1 pm when we begin a brunch to hold them over until the evening Thanksgiving dinner. Ham and cheese sandwiches, baked brie, deviled eggs, Italian skewers, cookies and brownies get guests in the mood for carriage rides. Since the weather was cool, fireplaces were roaring in both the parlor and dining room. Later in the evening we all walk over to David’s Restaurant which borders the back of our property and enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. This year our options were a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings, Fresh Sea Bass or Prime Rib. Our guests tried all the options and it was all delicious. We also started with a choice of soup or salad and several dessert choices to finish it off. Before you know it…it was the next day and another wonderful Williams House breakfast!
